vecka 8

Tuesday + Friday

Oral presentations of your different topics

What to do in the classroom:

1.
I want you to pick your favourite English song (or one of them) and translate it into Swedish. Use a dictionary online, like THIS ONE

När du översätter:
Tänk på att en del saker kanske inte går att översätta ordagrant...som speciella idiomatiska uttryck, slang osv. Använd inte google translate. Den kan inte hantera alla språkets variationer särskilt bra...
Lämna in till mig.
Antingen skriver du ut på papper och lämnar in.
Eller skickar på mail.

2.
Resten av lektionen varvar du mellan att fylla i luckorna på populära engelska låtar på Lyricstraining.com

Vecka 7

Friday
Practise for your presentations
A few of you will be writing the test today

Tuesday

Feedback on your texts - correct them and hand them back to me. If you have a lot of yellow marks you might want to write your text again on a computer and hand it in. If you have less, write the correct text in the margin and hand in.

Preparation - oral presentation next week (presentations in small groups Tuesday and Friday)

You might want to use your text when writing key words for your presentation. But in the end of the lesson I want your texts back.

How to give a speech/presentation in English

Your presentation

What?
You should be prepared to give a presentation to a few of your friends where you give your view on whatever topic you wrote your text about...

How?
Think the way you did when you wrote your text.
That is: Give an interesting "ear-catching" introduction to your topic where we get a hint of what you are going to talk about and also where you state your opinion.

You give a few reasons why you think the way you do. Give examples. When you speak you have time to develop your arguments even more than in writing.

Wrap it up. Some sorts of conclusion.

USE keywords - not a long text

When?
You should be prepared to give your presentation on Tuesday week 8.

Why?
In the curriculum for English 9 it says that you should be given the opportunity to practise communication and how to express yourself in speaking throughout the course.

You should also practise on how to use strategies when speaking. Strategies are basically everything you do to keep the communication going... For example if you can't find the right word...you move on and try to say it in another way...you try to keep going. You "save" the situation.

This could be useful: Page 1, 2, 3, 4

Remember!
A good text is quite similar to a good presentation.
It contains: Structure. Clarity. Varied language with flow.

What do I assess?
